Soak Up The Rest Of Summer With These Staycation Ideas

As the dog days of summer start to slip away, and we prepare for the upcoming school year, we may feel down that the season is almost over.  But there’s still time to savor summer—even if it means you’ll be spending the rest of it in your own backyard.  A staycation is the perfect way to recharge and make lasting memories.

Here are some fun and creative ways to make the most of your staycation before summer officially winds down.

Set The Tone

The key to a great staycation is intention. Set boundaries just like you would if you were on vacation.  This means putting a stop to the work emails, putting chores on hold, and putting errands last on your list.  Simply block time off and treat each day like you’re somewhere special.

Explore Hidden Gems

There’s a lot to offer in our own backyard and this is a great time to explore.  Set time aside to visit local parks, coffee shops, zoos, or scenic hiking spots you’ve never explored. It could be as simple as taking a bike ride to a fun restaurant on the lake with the family!  Don’t forget to check local event calendars for outdoor concerts and festivals!

Set Up A Backyard Escape

Bring the vacation vibes home.  Set up a picnic or plan an outdoor movie night.  Another fun summer bucket list to-do is camping at home!  Set up a tent and get the smores ingredients out to truly feel the summer vibes!

Try Something New

Use the rest of summer to break out of your routine with something spontaneous or creative.  Paddleboarding, kayaking, doing puzzles, or taking a pottery class can be fun!  It’s always exciting to break away from the norm!

Soak Up The Last Of Summer

As we enjoy the last of the season’s magic, ask yourself, what does summer mean to you? Eating ice cream, catching fireflies, gathering around campfires? Be sure to soak it all up because as we know, summer doesn’t last forever, but the memories you create will!

So, grab your sunglasses, turn on your "vacation" playlist, and celebrate these last days of summer like you mean it!
