School Supply Lists Already…Where Did Summer Go?

NinJo Group

This morning, I was sitting at my desk printing off school supply lists, and it hit me...school is just around the corner.

One minute we are celebrating the last day of school and making summer bucket lists, the next thing, we are sorting through backpacks, checking supply lists, and wondering how we got here so quickly.  Summer seems to be slipping away.

As a parent, seeing those school supply lists always brings a mix of emotions. I'm excited for fresh starts, and all the opportunities a new school year brings. But there's also a little sadness knowing that carefree summer days are winding down.

The good news? There's still time.

Time for one more beach day.
Time for another family movie night.
Time to stay up late catching fireflies.
Time for a spontaneous trip to the ice cream shop.
Time to say "yes" to one more adventure.

But also, now is the perfect time to start getting organized. Getting a head start on shopping for supplies will help you start getting organized and can also make the first week of school much less stressful.  So, spread out your shopping, watch for sales, label supplies, and even let your kids help pick out their favorite folders or backpack.

If you're trying to stick to a budget, don't forget a few money-saving tips:

  • Shop your house first for unused or gently used supplies.

  • Watch weekly sales and compare prices before heading out.

  • Split bulk purchases with friends or family.

  • Take advantage of tax-free shopping weekends if your state offers one.

Back-to-school season doesn't have to mean the end of summer—it can simply be the beginning of a new chapter.

There's still plenty of sunshine left to enjoy while slowly preparing for what's ahead.

So, if you’re feeling the same way as I am, you’re not alone.

Don’t let the countdown to school steal the joy of today…chase those sunsets, eat the ice cream and make every summer day count!
