Fall Back Is Coming…What Will You Do With That Extra Hour?

NinJo Group

Whether you like it or not, it’s almost time to fall back.  On November 1st, we’ll be turning our clocks back one hour, which means an extra hour in our day.  And let’s be honest, who couldn’t use a little extra time? But it also means daylight is going to be shrinking.

So, while that extra hour might mean catching up on some much-needed sleep, you should still make the most of it.  Whether you’ve got a to-do list, family time to squeeze in, or just need time for yourself, here’s your chance to put that extra hour to good use.

Catch Up On Those Zzz's

Let's start with the obvious: sleep! Between busy schedules, work, school, sports, and everything else life throws our way, getting enough rest isn't easy. Use the upcoming time change as a reminder to reset your sleep routine, wind down a little earlier, and give yourself permission to get some extra shuteye.

Tackle That One Thing You've Been Putting Off

You know that project you've been meaning to get to? Maybe it's cleaning out your basement, switching out seasonal clothes for the kids, or finally tackling that junk drawer.  Use the extra hour to check one thing off your list.

Get A Head Start On Cozy Season

Colder days are coming, so this is a great time to make your home feel a little cozier. Pull out the blankets, organize your winter gear, and throw your favorite soup in the crockpot.

One thing we do in our house to make those earlier sunsets a little easier? Light up the place with Halloween decorations!

There’s something about the spooky glow, twinkling lights, and festive touches that make darker evenings feel a little more fun!

Take a Little Time for YOU

When was the last time you did something just for yourself? No errands, no multitasking, no checking things off your list. Just you.  You deserve to use the extra hour. Maybe it’s enjoying your coffee while it’s still hot, taking a relaxing bath, or reading a few chapters of a book.  Rest is productive, too!

Finally…Help Your Family Prepare For The Time Change

The time change can take a little getting used to, especially when those evenings start feeling shorter! One way to make the transition easier is to adjust your bedtime and wake-up time gradually over a few days, get some natural sunlight in the morning, and stick to a consistent sleep routine. Before you know it, your body will adjust.

So, what will you do with your extra hour?  Whether you spend it catching up on sleep, tackling a project, making memories with your family, or enjoying a little well-deserved downtime, make it count!  Because sometimes, an extra hour is just the little reminder we need to slow down, reset, and enjoy the season we're in.
