Over the past decade, so much has changed.

What was once thought impossible is now a reality.

Self-driving cars, voice activated smart speakers and virtual worlds. It’s most likely true that what you don’t think is possible will probably be happening in the next ten years.

Most of us would say they started noticing the digital takeover during the pandemic, when we spent days upon days online looking for that human interaction we so deeply missed.

As our society continues to evolve, so does the internet.  Let’s dive into some predictions of future marketing trends so we’re ready to ride the digital wave.

Experts predict virtual spaces are going to be the sweet spot for digital marketers.  Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality are going to be impossible to ignore. In fact, to seamlessly connect virtual and physical worlds is going to be the new avenue for marketing.

Think about it, we can already upload a selfie to “try on” makeup or upload our living space to a platform to get a glance of what new countertops would look like.  Smells, sounds and sensations will soon be a part of what’s possible, all through a screen.

With the ever-changing trends, it’s important we as marketers stay up to date with them, if not, beat them. So how do you do that?

Experts say it’s time to change the way you think, and it all boils down to customer behavior and automation. Automating information based on what they’ve done in the past and what they’ll do next will enhance the customer experience. This can be done through powerful tools like email and websites.

Gartner predicts that by 2024, organizations that understand the needs of customers will outperform other customer experience metrics by 20 percent.

But the way advertisers collect customer data could be a thing of the past.  There’s chatter that cookies may be deleted.  This is why it’s important to put robust CRM tools in place as soon as possible.

Using zero-party data like surveys is also gaining more attention.  The customer opts to take the survey while you’re capturing their information for future marketing opportunities.

Influencer marketing is also a growing trend and that’s due to the increasing number of people on social media.

Numbers show that 58 percent of customers have made a purchase based on an influencer’s recommendation.

These influencers are out in real-time, posting videos of hot items they’ve found, increasing brand awareness. It’s just another reason to get yourself out there.

Email newsletters are also trending.  It is personal contact with a world that is getting more and more digital.  While it can be hard to get into someone’s inbox, once you do, you’re strengthening that relationship with your customer.  This is direct contact with your audience without any outside noise, like competitors posting alongside you on social media platforms.

So, as the world continues to evolve, so too does the digital world.  The future is here and it’s time to remind ourselves that the impossible, is very possible.
