Ring In The New Year With Realistic Resolutions

Every year, the word resolution comes with a lot of pressure. Every year, most of us start January feeling motivated…then overwhelmed…and by February, we have lost hope. Typically, with unrealistic resolutions, we tend to fail.

We expect the motivation to stay high, we set rules that are too strict, and we try to change everything at once.

For 2026, I’m going to try to do things differently.

Instead of setting huge, unrealistic goals that look good on paper, I’m focusing on realistic resolutions.  The kind I can keep, even on my worst days. It’s not because I’m lazy.  It’s because I know that realistically, life gets busy, and we may not have room for everything on our resolution list.  So, this year isn’t about perfection or big changes overnight. It’s about small changes that make my everyday life feel calmer and healthier.  And I want you to do the same.

So, what does that mean?

Setting resolutions that are flexible, consistent, and built into a normal routine.  If I can’t see myself doing it on a tired, busy, or stressful day, it’s probably not realistic—and I need to remind myself that it is okay.  We don’t need dramatic changes.  We need something that will help make a difference over time.

For 2026, my goal is to be kinder to myself, to stop comparing, and to remind myself that tracking habits loosely and not obsessively is healthier.  Missing a day doesn’t mean failing.  And I’m saying this to you as well.

Take on 2026 happy with who you are.  Show up when you can. Sometimes, the most meaningful changes are the quiet, realistic ones that help you feel better day by day.

So, enjoy the rest of 2025, look back at how far you’ve come, and get ready to face the new year with realistic resolutions! Cheers!
