How Small Businesses Can Get In On Super Bowl Marketing

It’s Super Bowl week! Even though the price tag for marketing during the big game is high, businesses can still take advantage of promoting their business, in other ways.

Instead of taking it to national TV, small business owners can focus on local advertising.

Regional or local channels may offer more affordable rates.

If TV isn’t the route you’re planning to take, social media is a powerful avenue, especially if you have a strong customer base.

If you’re looking to change it up a bit, you can purchase ads on Facebook to boost your marketing efforts and reach more people.

Blogs and videos are also a fun way to engage with your audience.

Emotions play a critical role when it comes to marketing.

Americans are excited for the game and emotions are high this week. They’re in the mood for fun, light-hearted content. A great way to take advantage of this consumer behavior is to offer Super Bowl-themed promotions, discounts, or packages related to your products or services.

Give-aways are also fun and get your audience ramped up for an exciting week. This helps generate interest and attracts customers who are in the Super Bowl mindset.

Here are other ways you can leverage marketing for the big event:

  • Joint Marketing Campaigns: Partner with other local businesses to share the costs and increase visibility

  • Community Events: Host Super Bowl viewing parties or events at your location

  • Email Marketing: Think outside of the box. Use Super Bowl related content, visuals and newsletters

  • Sponsorships: Get your business name out there at local sporting events

As a marketer, I favor times of the year when we can have fun with our work! Using specific events, holidays, or even a play on weather, can really spice up your marketing efforts and hit close to home with customers.

Remember to tailor your approach to your target audience though.  While the Super Bowl is a major event, not everyone may be into it. So be cautious and align your marketing plan to focus on what your customer truly wants from you.

With kickoff just days away, let’s get that game plan going. It’s key to get your message directly to the end zone…and bring home a win.
