Apple Picking In The Peaks: If You’re Planning To Go…Go Sooner Than Later
Fall is in the air and that means apple-picking season is here! Colorado is a great place to indulge in crisp, juicy, and delicious apples. From Gala to Honeycrisp, local orchards offer a variety of heirlooms thanks to the hard-working farmers!
But after researching local apple orchards, we’ve found that due to a late frost in May, many farmers are reporting a loss in apples. HOWEVER, this doesn’t mean you can’t visit the local farms! It just means, you better get out there sooner rather than later if you want a chance at picking your own apples.
So, before you go, it’s a good idea to check the status of the orchard. Let’s peek at some of the fun spots to visit that are all within an hour’s drive of the Denver area!
Located in Boulder County, this farm is home to 1,000 fruit trees, and most of them are apples! Don’t miss AppleFest October 13 and 20th where you can enjoy live music and BBQ!
Adam’s Apple Orchard And Country Store:
Enjoy a FREE wagon ride and get your hands on some fresh PICKED apples! Public picking is not available, but the store is open with a variety of fruits to sample, along with some fresh apple cider!
Along with apples, here you can pick your own flowers! You’ll need to pay ahead online for your bucket. This is sure to be a beautiful experience.
Pick pesticide and chemical-free apples right from the trees at this beautiful farm! The other specialty at this location is harvesting potatoes!
Worrell Family Farm And Orchard:
This small, family-owned farm hosts You-Pick apple picking every Friday and Saturday! With over six acres and more than 1,000 trees, you can get a taste of 24 popular apple varieties!
So, let’s get out and enjoy nature’s beauty. Even though we may not be able to fill those buckets all the way, you’ll leave with a heart full of memories you’ve made!
